The partnership between Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and RoadmapsForEnergy (R4E) took a step forward when Istanbul’s R4E official statement was signed last month in support of its Smart Transportation Vision for 2050. By signing the document, IMM’s Deputy Secretary General Mr. Muzaffer Hacımustafaoğlu declared his support for the R4E Project and stated that he will contribute to the smart city studies of the project team.
The discussions revolved around the activities carried throughout the project cycle and the planned works of the ‘Intelligent Mobility’ projects that were picked by IMM as their focus area. Other themes touched on were Smart Public Transportation and Smart Traffic Management plans and activities of IMM within the context of R4E Project.
Roadmaps For Energy is a European funded project under the Horizon 2020 programme. R4E aims to develop a new type of energy strategy through visions and roadmaps for the 8 partner cities, in co-creation with relevant local stakeholders. The project focuses on three areas (Smart Mobility, Smart Buildings, and Smart Urban Spaces) within the domain of sustainable energy that are closely linked to the municipalities main responsibilities and each city partner has chosen 2 focus areas to work on in its roadmaps depending on their objectives.
