February 2017 brought good news for the IoT industry. IBM announced the launch of their Watson IoT headquarters in Munich, Germany which is one of the world’s most advanced centres for Watson’s cognitive computing and IoT capabilities.
According to the company’s press release, “the center will serve as the new global ecosystem for collaborative innovation, special industry “collaboratories” that bring together clients and partners to work together with IBM’s 1,000 Munich-based IoT experts to tap into the latest design thinking and push the boundaries of what is possible with IoT.”
IBM recognizes the potential of IoT and will invest $3BN to bring Watson to IoT – allocating +$200M to the new Munich center alone.
